Abstract

This study aims to explore the legal framework of civil liability in cases of misuse of AI technologies regarding personal data in Jordanian legislation, as well as examine the extent to which current laws can keep up with the rapid development of these technologies. The study adopted a descriptive and analytical approach, addressing definitions and concepts related to AI technologies, analyzing the legal issues surrounding them, with a focus on legal texts and their impact on civil liability and personal data protection under Jordanian law. The study revealed that there is a legal gap in Jordanian legislation regarding the civil liability arising from damages caused by AI technologies. It also found that general legal rules may not be sufficient to address these issues, especially given the rapid pace of technological development. The researcher recommends the need to develop specialized legislation to regulate civil liability arising from the use of AI, adopt a new legal framework that aligns with the technical characteristics of AI, enhances personal data protection, and update Jordanian laws to keep pace with the rapid advancements in AI technologies, ensuring effective legal protection for individuals.
